Injuries are an unfortunate part of participating in sports. Because of sport injuries and the knowledge of a student mental health crisis, it became appropriate to let student-athletes from smaller schools outside of the NCAA share their experiences and perspectives. A lived experience can paint a broader picture of an event that can then combine with other experiences and perspectives that can be useful for future student-athletes who may not have considered their injury affected their mental health. Asking questions to individual student-athletes to have a conversation and considering the theoretical framework of stress and coping can lay a foundation to continue to try and understand the student mental health crisis and possibly find answers to help with this crisis. Keywords: sport injuries, student-athletes, experiences, perspectives, mental health
