| The purpose of this thesis is to show how historical cosplay has affected modern cosplay, as well asshow how theatrical design concepts can influence and help in developing original cosplay designs and fully realized pieces. I have includedplanning, budgeting, and construction of four distinct cosplay costumes. Over the course of my process,I was able to discover methods that were effective in helping me create my own cosplays. The most important thing I learned is that there are ways to pursue design work outside of the theatre.
