The purpose of the mixed method study was to investigate the experiences of patients with limited scleroderma related to oral health related quality of life, general and oral health. A mixed method study combined a survey and interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Qualitative data were reported through thematic analysis using the constant comparative method. Study results were validated through member checks, inquiry auditor, and audit trail. Factors influencing oral health related quality of life varied among individuals. Thematic analysis revealed challenges to both self-care and professional dental care. Adaptations included a variety of physiotherapy aids for self-care. Patient perceptions are that adaptations for professional care and knowledge of the disease are lacking. Oral healthcare professionals can provide support through recommendations of physiotherapy aids and by providing comfortable means of dental treatment.
