Corruption has long been a central concern in political and philosophical thought, impacting states' growth and stability. In recent years, its prevalence in developing countries has worsened, threatening the very foundations of democratic societies. Nigeria has been plagued by corruption, with its political parties playing a significant role in perpetuating this problem. This thesis critically analyzes the formation, organization, and mode of operation of contemporary political parties in Nigeria, focusing on the All-Progressive Congress (APC) between 2015 and 2023. It highlights how political parties discreetly contribute to the growth of corruption, leading to electoral malpractices and undermining good governance. The study examines corruption in its economic, political, and electoral dimensions, identifying factors driving corruption in Nigeria and proposing constitutional reforms and structural changes to curb corruptive inclinations in political parties and promote responsible party politics. |
